How to move a website user to the correct customer account?

Sometimes a buyer signs up under the wrong account by mistake. The fix is simple, you remove them from the wrong account and add them back under the correct one.

» How to move a website user to the correct account

  1. Log in to WizOrder as an Admin and navigate to CRM > Website User  from the left nav bar.

  2. Navigate to the Website User table and locate the user.

  3. Open the Action Menu for that user.

  4. Select Change Mapping.

  5. Search for and select the correct customer account.

  6. Confirm the change.

Note: On the mobile app, you can only add a WizShop user from the customer details page. The Website Users page is available on the web portal only.

» Important things to know

  • Change Mapping keeps the user's existing record intact. Unlike the old delete-and-re-add approach, this doesn't touch the user's login credentials, order history, or account status, it just reassigns which customer they're attached to.
  • No email collision risk when using Change Mapping on a website user with no active orders or quotes. If the user has active orders or quotes against their current customer, deleting the WizShop user directly (rather than using Change Mapping) will trigger an "email already exists" error. The system requires those orders/quotes to be cleared first.
  • Change Mapping can fail if the user has an active order or cart tied to them. If the user already has an order placed, or has items sitting in their cart, you'll see an "Update mapping confirmation" error and the mapping won't go through. • Change Mapping can fail if the user has an active order or cart tied to them. If the user already has an order placed, or has items sitting in their cart, you will see an "Update mapping confirmation" error and the mapping won't go through. In this case, you have two options:

    • Option 1: Clear and re-create: Delete the website order/quote data under the current customer, then re-create the user as a lead under the correct customer. Use this when the orders on the old account don't need to be preserved.
    • Option 2: Merge the accounts: Merge the two customer records into one, choosing which customer stays primary. The website user login stays active under whichever customer you keep as primary, nothing is lost on the login side. Use this when both accounts have order history worth keeping. If you are unsure which option fits, contact help@wizcommerce.com.
