Manage Customer Permissions

Customer section and attribute permissions are now split into a dedicated tab for each product — WizOrder and WizShop — instead of one shared table, with a simple "all or none" way to grant or remove access for every role at once.

Platform: WizOrder & WizShop      |      Who is this for: Admins

To Get There: Org Settings → Customer → Customer Permissions

A. What Changed

Previously, WizOrder and WizShop shared a single customer permissions table. This table covered customer section permissions and attribute field permissions for all user roles, but only on the WizOrder side — WizShop roles and users weren't visible in it, so it wasn't clear how a change would affect the storefront.

The permissions table now has two dedicated tabs — WizOrder and WizShop — each showing its own customer section permissions and attribute field permissions. The purpose and layout of both tabs are the same; only the roles and users they control are different. This way, you always know exactly which side of the product a permission change affects.

WizOrder and WizShop roles remain separate from each other and are managed independently in their own tab.

B. Finding the Permissions Tabs

  1. Go to the Settings → Org Settings.

    1-Aug-10-2026-02-52-32-7917-PM
  2. Then Customer → Customer Permissions.

    2-Aug-10-2026-02-52-32-2491-PM
  3. Click either the WizOrder tab or the WizShop tab, depending on which roles you want to manage. For example, WizOrder.

    3-Aug-10-2026-02-54-16-0001-PM
  4. You will see Customer Section Permissions and Attribute Field Permissions for that product, listed separately from the other tab.

C. Using All-or-None Permissions

Every permission row, on both the WizOrder and WizShop tabs, supports all-or-none logic:

» WizOrder:
  1. Click on Edit Icon to change Customer Section Permissions or Attribute Field Permissions.
  2. For example, lets change Contacts permission under Customer Section Permissions.

    5-Aug-10-2026-04-14-28-9066-PM
  3. To grant a permission to every user across all roles, select All and click Save.

    6-Aug-10-2026-04-14-29-1481-PM
  4. To grant a permission to specific user across all roles, select Specific and click Save.

    7-Aug-10-2026-04-14-28-7811-PM
  5. To remove that permission for everyone, select None and click Save.

    8-Aug-10-2026-04-14-28-9066-PM

Note: This logic applies consistently across custom attributes/fields and all other sections in either tab, not just one specific area.

» WizShop:
  1. Click on Edit Icon to change Customer Section Permissions or Attribute Field Permissions.
  2. For example, lets change Contacts permission under Customer Section Permissions.

    9-Aug-10-2026-04-14-28-8544-PM
  3. To grant a permission to every user across all roles, select All and click Save.

    10-Aug-10-2026-04-14-29-0505-PM
  4. To remove that permission for everyone, select None and click Save.

    11-Aug-10-2026-04-14-28-9383-PM

Note: This logic applies consistently across custom attributes/fields and all other sections in either tab, not just one specific area.

D. How Permissions Apply

When you change a permission, it takes effect right where that role works:

  • WizOrder: Changes apply for your internal team.
  • WizShop: Changes apply for buyers on your storefront.

Here's what that looks like on the WizShop side:

  • Add permission: Setting Add New to None for a section (for example, billing addresses) removes the Add New button from that section on the storefront after the page is refreshed. Buyers can still edit or delete existing entries.
  • Edit permission: Setting Edit to None for a section (for example, contacts) removes the ability to edit existing entries after refresh, while Add New remains available if it hasn't also been restricted.

Each permission (Add, Edit, Delete) is controlled independently, so you can restrict one action in a section while leaving others enabled. The same independent, per-action control applies on the WizOrder tab for internal roles.

Note: Changes reflect after the page is refreshed.

FAQs

1. What's the difference between the WizOrder and WizShop tabs in the permissions table?

A. Both tabs work the same way and cover the same categories; customer section permissions and attribute field permissions. The only difference is which roles and users they control: the WizOrder tab manages WizOrder roles and the WizShop tab manages website (storefront) roles.

2. What does selecting "All" or "None" do?

A. All grants the selected permission to every role and user in that tab. None removes that permission for everyone. The change saves immediately once selected.

3. Does the all-or-none logic apply to custom attributes too?

A. Yes. All-or-none permission logic applies across custom attributes and all other sections in both tabs, not just the default fields.

4. Do I need to do anything after changing a permission for it to take effect?

A. Refresh the page to see the updated permission reflected. For example, an Add New or Edit button appearing or disappearing.
