What's the difference between Showroom Mode and Offline Mode?

Both Showroom Mode and Offline Mode are useful at trade shows, but they solve completely different problems. Mixing them up can lead to access or sync issues, so here is what each one does.

» Showroom Mode is about who can see what.

It is a permission override in WizOrder. When you turn it on, every sales rep added in Showroom Mode (after enabling it) temporarily gets access to all orders and customers, regardless of their individual permission settings. This is useful at a trade show when multiple reps need visibility into the full customer list to avoid duplicating new accounts. An internet connection is required to enable Showroom Mode; once enabled, it can be used offline. 

» Offline Mode is about whether the app needs internet.

It lets the WizOrder app keep working when there is no Wi-Fi or cellular signal (Internet) — for example in a trade show booth with weak signal, at a customer site, or while travelling. Browsing products, taking orders, applying discounts, and creating new customers all continue to work. Orders are queued on the device and sync automatically the moment connectivity is restored.

» Things to keep in mind

  • The two modes are independent. You can use one, the other, or both at the same time.
  • Remember to turn Showroom Mode off once your event is over. This restores each rep's standard permissions automatically.
  • Offline Mode only works after you have completed at least one full sync. Open WizOrder while connected and run Sync Data before you leave for the event.
