Does Ella support different discount or tax rules for specific customers or SKUs?
Yes. Ella reads and applies customer-specific and SKU-specific pricing rules automatically when processing a PO, no manual rep intervention needed. These rules are set up once in Prompt Management, written in plain language, and Ella applies them every time a matching order comes in.
» How rules are configured
Rules are written as plain sentences — no code required.
For example, a rule scoped to a specific customer might say "For customer Harbour Interior Home, apply a 5% discount on all items in SKU family Y." A tax exemption rule might say "Apply zero tax for buyer Z." Once saved, Ella applies the rule automatically on every order from that customer without the rep having to remember it.
» How rules are applied
- Per-tenant prompts apply across all customers for that account.
- Per-customer prompts apply only to orders from a named customer, overriding the tenant default where there is a conflict.
- If two rules apply to the same line and produce different outcomes, Ella flags the conflict on the draft so the rep can resolve it before submission. No rule silently overrides another.
» Things to keep in mind
- Rules are set up during onboarding or updated by your implementation contact after go-live. They do not require any code changes.
- Tax exemption rules should be verified against your ERP's tax configuration to ensure the zero-tax setting flows through correctly to the Sales Order.
