How Do I Remove or Delete a Modifier in WizCommerce?

Removing a modifier is a three-level action, and the level you choose decides how much it affects, you can take a modifier off a single product, drop one value from a group, or remove a modifier group from your catalog entirely.

Modifiers are set up under Manage > Import/Export > Modifiers using the Modifier SetUp and Variant & Modifiers Mapping sheets.

» Step 1: Choose what you're removing

Removal level What it affects
A modifier from a single SKU Removes the group from that product only; the group stays available for every other product it's mapped to
A single value from a group Removes one option (e.g., Antique Brass under Hardware Finish) everywhere the group is used
A modifier group from the entire product catalog Removes the group from the Modifier Definitions sheet and unmaps it from every product at once

» Step 2: Delete the Modifier

A Modifier ID from a single/mulitple SKU

Use this when specific products should no longer show a modifier group, but the group stays available for other products.

  1. Go to Manage → Import/Export → Modifiers → Export and download your current modifier file.
  2. Open the file in Excel or Google Sheets.
  3. Find your SKU in the Variant & Modifiers Mapping sheet and delete the modifier ID from its column, for example, delete Finish Material from the Modifier_ID column.
  4. Save the file.
  5. Re-import it through Manage → Import/Export → Modifiers, selecting Variant & Modifiers Mapping during import.
A single value from a Modifier ID

Use this when one option within a group is discontinued, for example, dropping Antique Brass from a Color modifier.

  1. Go to Manage → Import/Export → Modifiers → Export and download your current modifier file.
  2. Open the file in Excel or Google Sheets.
  3. In the Modifier SetUp sheet, find the value you want to remove and delete its entire row, for example, delete the Blue (which is a value under color modifier) row to remove it from the Color modifier.

  4. Save the file.

  5. Re-import it through Manage → Import/Export → Modifiers, selecting Modifiers Setup during import.

A Modifier ID from the entire Product Catalog

Use this when a modifier group is no longer offered anywhere. This affects every product the group is mapped to, so it's handled by the WizCommerce team.

  1. This is done by WizCommerce team, please reach out with the Modifier ID to our support team (help@wizcommerce.com)

» When removal needs extra care

Scenario What to do
You want to retire an entire modifier group Remove the group itself, not each value one by one, so the group is never left active with no live values

Note:

  • Do not remove the last remaining value from a group that's still active.
  • Removing a modifier group affects every product it was mapped to at the same time, so confirm the full list of affected products before requesting it.
