What file formats can Ella read?

Ella reads PDF, DOCX, Excel (XLSX/XLS), CSV, and images (JPG/PNG, including photos of handwritten notes) out of the box. Voice notes are not part of the default product but can be enabled on request. The audio path is added during onboarding for customers who need it.

» What happens if a file comes in as an unsupported format

If a buyer sends a file in a format Ella cannot process, the order is not silently dropped. Ella flags it so the rep is aware and can follow up with the buyer to resend in a supported format. The rep can then resubmit the file via Manual PO Upload once the correct format is received.

» Things to keep in mind

• The most common formats in B2B distribution (PDF, Excel, and email-attached images) are all supported out of the box. Unsupported format issues are rare in practice.
• If your buyers consistently send POs in a format not currently supported, raise it with your implementation contact. Format support is centrally managed and continues to expand.
• For handwritten notes or low-quality scans, Ella will still attempt extraction but confidence scores on affected lines may be lower. The rep should review low-confidence lines carefully before submitting.
