Why does the PDF catalog fail to upload in Lookbook (Publitas)?
This error comes from Lookbook (Publitas). It's usually caused by one of five issues: an invalid PDF file, a file that's too large, an oversized page size, complex vector images, or too many links.
Here's how to check each one and fix it:
» The file isn't a valid PDF
Lookbook (Publitas) only accepts files saved in PDF format. If your file is saved as a different format (even if it's named with a .pdf extension), the upload will fail.
» The PDF is too large
Conversion can fail if the file takes too long to process. We recommend keeping your file under 300MB. If your file is larger than that, compress it before uploading.
» PDF page sizes are too large
Avoid pages with a width or height greater than 100cm (39 inches). Oversized pages can cause the conversion to fail. To fix this, check your page dimensions in your design tool and resize any oversized pages before exporting the PDF.
» Complex vector images
Highly detailed vector graphics can be difficult for the converter to process and may cause the upload to fail or time out. To fix this, simplify the vector artwork, or convert it to a standard image format (like PNG or JPG) before placing it in your PDF.
» Too many links in the PDF
Lookbook (Publitas) supports up to 5,000 automatically imported links per PDF. If your file has more than that, the import may fail. To fix this, reduce the number of links in the source file, or split the catalog into smaller PDFs and upload them separately.
» Things to keep in mind
- Check file validity, size, page dimensions, and link count before uploading to avoid repeat errors
- Complex vector art is one of the least obvious causes. If nothing else on this list applies, try simplifying your graphics next
