Why Use a Custom Email Handle
Understand what your customers see when emails come from the default WizCommerce address, and how a custom email handle changes the way they receive and respond to your orders, quotes, and account emails.

Before You Begin
- Ensure you have access to Organizational Settings.
- Have your business email address ready (e.g., orders@yourcompany.com) with its own inbox and login. Avoid a shared group alias, so replies and sent copies behave correctly.
- Ensure you have access to your domain provider (for example, GoDaddy, Cloudflare, or Namecheap), or the contact details of the person who manages your domain, to add DNS records.
- A custom email handle is an add-on service. If you don’t set one up, all communications sent to your customers will come from noreply@wizcommerce.com by default.
A. What Is a Custom Email Handle
A custom email handle is your own business email address (for example, orders@yourcompany.com) that WizCommerce uses to send emails to your customers, instead of the default noreply@wizcommerce.com.
In simple terms, once your custom email handle is set up:
- Your customers receive emails from your business, not from WizCommerce.
- This applies to emails sent from WizOrder and your WizShop website, such as order confirmations, quotes, and account emails.
- You use an email address you already have, so you don’t need to create a new one.
- If a customer replies, the reply comes straight to your inbox.
B. How Emails Are Sent Today vs With a Custom Email Handle
» How emails are sent today
When a sales rep places an order in WizOrder, or a customer places an order on your WizShop website, WizCommerce sends the email to your customer from noreply@wizcommerce.com.
- An order, quote, or account action is completed in WizOrder or WizShop.
- WizCommerce sends the email from noreply@wizcommerce.com.
- Your customer receives the email with WizCommerce as the sender.
- If your customer replies, the reply goes to the no-reply address and is not delivered to your team.
This is how the email appears in your customer’s inbox:
From: WizCommerce <noreply@wizcommerce.com>
Subject: Your order has been confirmed
Reply to: noreply@wizcommerce.com → reply is not delivered to you
» How emails are sent with a custom email handle
After your domain is verified, the same emails are sent from your business address.
- An order, quote, or account action is completed in WizOrder or WizShop.
- WizCommerce sends the email from your address (for example, orders@yourcompany.com) through your verified domain.
- Your customer receives the email with your business as the sender.
- If your customer replies, the reply is routed to your inbox (when Set up email routing is enabled).
This is how the email appears in your customer’s inbox:
From: Your Company <orders@yourcompany.com>
Subject: Your order has been confirmed
Reply to: orders@yourcompany.com → reply arrives in your inbox
» What changes for your customer
The table below compares what your customer sees in their inbox before and after you set up a custom email handle. The email content stays the same; what changes is who the email comes from and where replies go.
| What your customer sees | Today | With a Custom Email Handle |
|---|---|---|
| Sender name | WizCommerce | Your business |
| Sender address | noreply@wizcommerce.com | Your business address |
| Domain in the email | wizcommerce.com | Your domain |
| When they reply | Reply is not delivered to you | Reply arrives in your inbox |
| Spam protection | Platform default | Your domain, verified with DNS and DMARC |
Note: To make changes to or customise your email templates, or to enable a custom email handle, contact your Customer Success Manager (CSM) or reach out to our support team at help@wizcommerce.com.
C. Which Emails Are Sent From Your Address
After your domain is verified, the emails WizCommerce sends to your customers use your address. This includes emails from WizOrder and from your WizShop website.
| Platform | Emails |
|---|---|
| WizOrder | Order confirmations, quotes, payment notifications, & more. |
| WizShop | Sign-up received, account approved and set password, order received, order confirmed, and more. |
Note: Emails sent by your ERP or other systems (for example, order acknowledgements sent from NetSuite) are not affected. A custom email handle applies only to emails sent by WizCommerce.
D. How a Custom Email Handle Helps Your Business
» Customers recognize the email
Emails come from the same business your customers are ordering from. Order confirmations, quotes, and account emails are easier to identify and less likely to be ignored.
» Customer replies reach your team
With Set up email routing enabled, replies go to your inbox.
For example, a buyer receives a quote and replies to ask about a lead time. With the default address, that reply is not delivered to you. With a custom email handle and routing, your team receives it and can respond.
» Emails are less likely to land in spam
During setup, you add DNS records that verify you own the domain, plus a DMARC record shared by the WizCommerce team. These records authenticate your emails and help keep them out of your customers’ spam folders.
» One sender across your sales channels
Emails from your sales reps’ orders in WizOrder and from your WizShop website come from the same business address. Customers see one consistent sender from sign-up to order confirmation.
» Set up once
You add the address and DNS records once. After verification, every WizCommerce email to your customers uses your address with no further action.
Note: Until your domain is verified, emails continue to send from noreply@wizcommerce.com, so there is no interruption to customer emails during setup.
E. Setup Your Custom Email Handle
A custom email handle is an add-on service billed on a monthly basis. For pricing details, contact your Customer Success Manager or reach out to our support team at help@wizcommerce.com.
To enable it:
- Contact your CSM or email help@wizcommerce.com.
- Complete the setup in Settings > Email Settings. See Setup Your Custom Email Handle.
Note: If you are launching a WizShop website, set up your custom email handle before go-live so your first customer emails come from your address.
FAQs
1. Am I buying a new email account?
A. No. A custom email handle connects your existing business email address to WizCommerce, so the emails WizCommerce sends to your customers go out from your address.
2. What happens if a customer replies to an order confirmation?
A. With a custom email handle and Set up email routing enabled, the reply goes to your inbox. With the default address, replies are not delivered to you.
3. Do my website emails also come from my address?
A. Yes. Emails sent from your WizShop website, such as sign-up and order emails, use your custom address after verification.
4. Does this change emails sent from my ERP?
A. No. Emails your ERP sends directly are not affected. Only emails sent by WizCommerce use your custom address.
5. Will I still receive internal order notifications?
A. Yes. Internal notifications for new orders continue as they do today.
6. Can I change the address (custom email handle) later?
A. Yes, from the Manage step. The new address needs to be verified with a new set of DNS records.
