How do I hide old or discontinued products from my website without deleting them?
If you want to stop certain products from showing on your WizShop website, without permanently deleting them, you can control their visibility through a simple export and re-import process. The products stay in your system and can be made visible again whenever you need.
» Before you start, an important distinction:
There are two separate visibility controls in WizCommerce product import/export; and it's easy to mix them up:
- ACTIVE column: Hides the product from the sales rep app (WizOrder) and admin. Setting this to N does not hide it from your website.
- Website Display Settings column: Controls visibility on WizShop (your B2B website). This is the one you need for this task.
» Steps to hide products from the website
-
Go to Import/Export in WizOrder (webportal), click Manage in the left sidebar, then click Import/Export.
-
Click the Products tile, then click Export. When selecting fields to export, choose All Product Fields. The export file can be downloaded from the notifications bell (top right corner).
-
Open the downloaded Excel file and go to the Data Sheet tab. Find the Website Display Settings column. For each product you want to hide from the website, change the value to Don't Show. To make a product visible again in the future, change it back to Show for logged in users only Show or for logged in or non logged in user - based on your requirement.
-
Save the Excel file. Go back to Manage → Import/Export → Products → Import. Upload your file. When prompted to select which fields to import, select All Product Fields only, the same field you exported.
-
Verify Check the notifications panel (bell icon, top right) to confirm the import completed successfully. Then visit your WizShop website and confirm the products no longer appear.
Tip: For more on the import/export process, see Import a New Product Catalog in Bulk and Perform Partial Product Import/Export in the WizCommerce Help Centre.
» A few things worth knowing:
- Hidden products are not deleted. All their data, pricing, and history stays intact.
- You can bring them back at any time by repeating the process and setting the value back to Yes.
- If you're updating a large number of products (more than 2,000 rows), split the file into smaller batches before importing.
- Always export first before making changes, never build the import file from scratch.
